Pick a story and tell it to me, in character.
"Once upon a time…"
No, Jack, don’t start like that, that’s stupid!
"Okay fine, stop laughing you’re making me laugh. Okay. Once upon a time-"
What did I just say?
"This is my story I’ll tell it how I want! So stop interrupting. Once upon a time…hey! Don’t hit me! Jesus woman. Onceuponatimetherewasaboywholikedtostealthings ha so there I said it and NO no no don’t hit me ack!"
Stop fooling around.
"I’m trying to tell my story! You’re the one who wanted a story, now are you going to let me tell it or not? Well?"
Okay, fine, I’m waiting.
"Once upon a time there was a boy who liked to steal things. It started from a sort of necessity, because his dad didn’t give him any money and wasn’t exactly the best at grocery shopping, but he really found that his fingers were good at it and he came to enjoy it. So it turned into more of a hobby. He probably would have been a pretty good track runner too, there were a few close calls with the police a couple of times but he got away because he was speedy."
Where are you even going with this?
"Just let me tell the damn story, stop interrupting. Anyway, this boy didn’t like school much but one day he saw this other boy being slammed against the lockers so they decided to skip together. They went out for Mexican food, because they were hungry, and the second boy didn’t talk very much but the first boy could carry on a conversation with a wall so that was okay. And they became friends. And then later they kind of became really close friends who would probably have said they were just friends with benefits if you asked them, if they even gave you that much, but really they were in love."
…is that it? Is that the end? What happened?
"Well, that’s the fun part. The ending’s stupid anyway."
Come on Jack, tell the damn story.
"No, I don’t like the ending, let’s leave it at that. I’ll go make some tea."
You sit your ass back down here! Come on, tell me the end. What happened with the two boys who were in love even though they wouldn’t even admit that they were more than friends?
"Well the one who didn’t talk very much got brain cancer and kind of turned the one who liked to steal things into an emotional wreck. They thought they got rid of it, but he had to leave because he was only living with his cousin for a while and even though that was probably better for him the rest of the family didn’t think so. So he had to leave and the boy who liked to steal things was left alone and an emotional wreck with no direction in life."
…Jack this is a messed up story.
"You’re telling me."
Did anything happen after that? Did they find each other again?
"No. They didn’t really talk, ever again. See? I told you that the ending was stupid. Now it’s your turn to tell a story."
What? That can’t seriously be the ending.
"Alright then, I’ll go make some tea and get your computer and read one of your stories-"
Don’t you DARE! Get back here! JACK!
Random cutesy thing that I wrote. Do not read if you don’t like things were my brain children have babies and cuteness ensues.
Depressing dialogue-only story under the cut
[Been a while since I’ve posted a story here. :3 Just a short one today.]
Jack woke up when his watch alarm went off, sighed, and turned it off immediately. He didn’t want to get up, he was warm and comfortable, but he had an early audition. Didn’t these English people understand that actors didn’t like waking up early?
He rolled over and looked at the person sleeping next to him. Then he smiled a little. Quin always looked so peaceful when he was asleep…
Jack yawned and sat up, still looking down at his boyfriend. He didn’t like crawling out of bed and sneaking out of the house like this, especially since everyone was probably still asleep apart from him. Besides, he felt bad sneaking out as if he wanted to leave. Maybe he should leave some kind of message…
He looked around. Time was being wasted while he tried to think of what he could leave Quin, but he didn’t smell too bad. He could skip a shower. Or maybe a shave. Neither were all that important to him that morning.
All Jack could see was a Sharpie, and an idea started to form. He didn’t want to waste time looking for paper…
Jack grabbed the pen and pulled the sheets down a little. Quin shifted slightly as the cool air touched his chest, but he didn’t wake up. Good. Jack gently wrote across his stomach so he’d be able to read it when he sat up; ‘I love you’.
He surveyed it for a second before deciding that it seemed a little bit…less than he wanted. So he thought for another second before picking up Quin’s right arm, holding it gently and carefully while he wrote again, this time in a flowing Arabic script: ٲنَا ٱحِبُّ’
Jack smiled. He set the arm gently down and picked up the other one, this time going for Korean: 사랑해.
He thought for a second, remembering the phrase in other languages. He went for French, underneath the original: Je t’aime. Then there was Spanish, to the right of the French and down a little bit: Te amo. Jack was pretty good with remembering words, he liked them, and thought a little for other languages. He grabbed his phone for some help.
Italian; Ti amo.
German; Ich liebe Dich.
As a joke, he even added Old English (Ic lufie þe) and Welsh (Rwy’n dy garu di).
However, he was taking time to write out all these characters onto the male’s chest, and Jack realized that if he was going to have time to get there (allowing for himself to get lost), he was going to have to get going soon. Well, that was good enough for him. He pulled the sheet back up over the now-marked chest so Quin wouldn’t notice until he sat up. As an afterthought, he added one more thing right by the male’s collarbone:
The jack of hearts.
Jack smiled and got up, capping the Sharpie and setting it down back where he had found it. He quietly got dressed and left the room, grabbing a coffee before leaving the flat completely and setting off into the crisp London morning.
[ It’s been a freaking long time. D:
This one’s going to be really really long because I could either break it down into small little pieces or get it over with. I’m kind of rushing this story because I came up with it a while ago, and I just want to put it down more for myself than for anyone else (sorry guys xD) but I might as well let someone read it. I just want to get the main events down, so there will be very few supporting scenes. ]
Win was walking across campus with Opal, talking.
“So are you going to that party?” Opal asked, brushing her dark curly hair back out of her face.
The smaller girl sighed. “I don’t think so. I’m not much of a partygoer…”
“Oh come on, it’ll be fun!”
It was a familiar conversation. There was a big party coming up, and most of Win’s friends were going, including Opal. She really wasn’t the best party person, though when she did go it was usually fun, and Opal thought that this was ridiculous. She didn’t seem to understand why somebody wouldn’t want to go.
“I know, just…”
Opal rolled her eyes. “Come on Win, I’d love to see you there.”
Sighing again, Win closed her eyes. “Alright, alright, I’ll think about it.”
“Great!” Opal grinned at her, she had the most infectious smile…Win couldn’t help but smile back. “Is Jack coming?”
“I don’t know, I’ll ask him if he wants to.” Shrugging, Win looked at her watch. “I’d better be heading home.”
“Okay. I’ll see you tomorrow, then!” They hugged, briefly. “And at that party, because you’re definitely coming.”
“I just said I’ll think about it,” Win replied. “But we’ll see, hm?”
Nodding, Opal waved and hurried off. Win turned in a different direction, heading home.
Jack was standing in the center of the main room, a laptop open on the couch and a mirror propped up against the wall. In his hands he had his three linking rings, and he was practicing some new trick. When the door closed he was in the middle of tossing one of them in the air, and it slipped out of his fingers and fell on the floor, clanging loudly.
“Sorry,” Win said.
He bent over, picking the ring up and dropping all three of them on the couch by the computer. “Not your fault. I’ve been dropping these things for almost an hour now. I was going to take a break anyway.”
“An hour? When did you start?”
Screwing up his face in thought, he said, “Three…?”
“Jack, it’s been two hours.” Win smiled, shaking her head slightly and putting her bag down by the couch.
“Really? Shit.” Jack searched around for a bit for the box. It was plain cardboard, and rather beat up. Win had always wondered why he never got a new one. “I don’t like spending so much time on these things, but I was so close to getting it…”
She flopped down on the couch, sighing. “I still don’t get why you don’t like them. Is it because every magician has them?”
Shaking his head, Jack picked up the computer and sat down next to her. “No, when I was younger I used to think that I couldn’t be a real magician until I got a set. I don’t like to talk about them though.”
Win lifted one eyebrow, she was dying to know. Jack never spoke about his past, not a mention of his family or high school life apart from one person that he brought up every now and then, and it made Win curious. But she wasn’t going to push it, and to take her mind off of the problem she started on her homework.
It was only when she curled up next to Jack in order to go to sleep – they had two bedrooms, but there was something comforting and nice about sleeping with another warm body next to you – that she mentioned the party.
“So…you know that party so many people are going to?” she asked, looking up at his shadowy face.
“Mmm? What about it?” Jack put an arm around her, shifting slightly into a more comfortable position.
“I was thinking of going. Opal’s been working on me all week. Do you think you’ll come?” If he went it would be like a lifeline, someone to cling to if she felt out of depth, but she wanted to spend time with Opal while she was there…
“Nah. I’m not much of a party person, and I’m surprised that you’re thinking of it. You don’t really strike me as one.” There was a smirk in his voice, and Win knew that he understood exactly what she was thinking…
“I can like parties,” she said indignantly. “Anyway. That’s cool, you don’t have to go. I’m just thinking about it.”
“Mmmhmm. Opal’s going.”
There was a quiet chuckle, and she received a kiss. “Goodnight, Win.”
[ Okay okay, an update. Hastily written in between homework assignments because I felt bad for not posting to the like…one person who reads this. Make that none. ><; Hasty introduction of a new character. ]
Opal was in her dancing class.
She was smart. And pretty. And more like Win than anyone else Win had ever met. She had lots of friends, because people just seemed to get along with her. Now Win was curious about this girl, but didn’t really get to be friends with her until they’d been in the same class for a few months.
She was sitting with Jack under a tree on campus, and they were talking. Jack laughed. “Honestly, I’d better meet this girl soon, before I know absolutely everything without getting to find out for myself. It’s like you have a crush or something.”
“I don’t have a crush on this girl.” Win was embarrassed, she didn’t realize that she’d been talking about Opal so much. “I’m asexual, remember?”
“You’re starting to think like the masses,” he said, shaking a finger at her. “Most people just assume that because you don’t like sex, you can’t have a crush. You can’t fall in love. But that’s not necessarily true, now is it?”
In the face of his smile, Win didn’t know what to say. It was true. She’d just assumed…
Jack chuckled, leaning forward and giving her a small kiss. “See, you don’t mind kisses. Or hugs. Or any other cuddles. So if you can stand to be kissed by me, your best friend, I think you can stand to kiss someone who you actually care for.”
Win didn’t like being lectured, especially by Jack who was bound to be smug about it later, so she countered, “You don’t know that I have a crush. In fact I don’t. But you’re the one who suggested we pretend like we’re dating, so unless you want to give up on that approach, you’d better cut it out.”
This earned her a smirk as Jack put his hands behind his head and leaned back. “Oh, I’ll be proved right eventually. Just you watch.”
